Look at the way that plants flowers!  They all had a random blossom, pointed down.

Anywho, it’s that time of year again!!  Green paths that lure me away from training seriously, haha.  I was on a ride and couldn’t resist a random park on a side road in my town I’d never been to.  It was beautiful!  But then I started to wonder why there were no people at all… 70 degrees out, a Sunday, far past noon—- getting nervous as fork after fork took me to dead ends and what looked like a firing range of some sort.  Whole trail, completely unmarked.  Fun times.

Here’s where I wandered off the path onto this old campsite trail.  Yeah, it must be tradition that I climb on something I shouldn’t when on the Katy Trail.  This bridge was it for this ride.

So I couldn’t drive all the way to Columbia, MO from St. Louis and not hang out at the Katy Trail!  Here’s a stretch right off of the Rocheport trail head.  Not a soul to be seen on such a gloomy day.  Eerie ride!  Loved it!

Land of cats!!!  Fat cats.

Through time and space, Jude, the (almost) best cat ever.  And then Ta-dahh!  We made paper.  Yup.

Matt, my sister’s fiancee (pictured above) made the awesome suketas~ We re-purposed old army wool blankets for the felts.  And used a storage bin for the vat, haha!  If this didn’t seem random enough, Matt then drove his truck on top of the boards holding the papers in lieu of a hydraulic press, hoobuddy  Worked like a dream!  I was definitely worried for a while there.  Gotta say, as we all know, putting together a studio can get pricey, which is basically what we did.  So glad it worked, siiigh.

Next step, screen printing those suckas!

This last week, I got to do something really awesome: Make paper with my sister and her fiancee for their wedding invites~!!  Here are a few lovely moments.  Not really intended as a step by step “how to”, but process-e enough I suppose.  If I were to try and narrate the adventure, I’d have to start at “Travel to the land of cats” and then that’s it.  Because it doesn’t get much better than that.  Right?  Right.  Part 1!

LOOK look, artblog.  It happened.  Maybe I’ll update that.

And that’s it.  All the old photos I dug up.

Almost a year ago, when my beautiful jeep wasn’t crushed by a hummer.  You can almost see the little MCAD stickers… We had so many adventures, so many joyrides together.  Some hillbilly is probably driving her around, modified to be either a) an offroader  and/or b) turned into the most podunk truck you ever saw.  I know.  They told me.

Katy Trail.
